Samsung will use Sony batteries for the new galaxy S8

Technology giant Samsung Electronics will incorporate a division of Japan's Sony to its battery suppliers, currently two, for its new flagship Galaxy S8, reported Friday.

The world's largest smartphone maker will use Japan's lithium-ion batteries in an attempt to avoid repeating the device's unprecedented recall in 2016 because of the spontaneous combustion problem of Note 7.
The defect of the devices, which began a few days after their commercialization and which, according to the company's investigation, located in the batteries, has cost the company about 5.300 million dollars and led to its cessation of production in just two months.
Sony started its battery business in 1975 and became the first company in the world to market lithium-ion batteries in 1991, but in recent years it has lost its lead over its South Korean competitors.
